Take a coin. Toss it in the air. Now call it. Heads? Tails? What if you could choose both sides?

The concept of the prayer coin was minted as I struggled in my own prayer life. Should I be blatantly honest about my desires or just leave everything to God and let him lead? An epiphany came when I noticed how Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane: “Take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done” (Luke 22:42). The scene is repeated in three of the four gospels and mentioned in the fourth. Jesus begged for relief from the trial he faced, while utterly complying with what he knew the Father’s will to be. Jesus pivoted between praying: This is what I want, God (Honest) and What do you want, God? (Abandon). Both in the same breath.

Jesus prayed both sides of the prayer coin and drew even closer to his Father. If Jesus—our Savior, Mentor, and Friend—could pray both sides of the prayer coin, could we as well?

What others are saying about The Prayer Coin:

''Elisa Morgan is one of the most passionate, authentic communicators I have ever known. She speaks out of the deepest, most honest places of the soul--and my soul is always the richer - and moved closer to Jesus - for the listening. These are pages I have longed to read.'' - Ann Voskamp

“Elisa Morgan’s The Prayer Coin is a powerful exploration of Jesus’ two-sided Gethsemane prayer. From 'take this cup' to 'not my will,' this book will pivot you into a more intimate relationship with God.”  - Mark Batterson, author of the New York Times bestseller, The Circle Maker, and lead pastor of National Community Church
