Welcome to the Sweet Spot Issue "Get More" page! Here you can access all the rich media content to deepen your reading experience!

"Sweet Spot Theme"

"Sweet Spot Ortberg Video"

Questions to prod your personal thinking and processing or for use in group discussion and are arranged by article title.

"Sweet Spot" Questions

-When have you hit your "sweet spot" in your family life? In a ministry moment? In marriage? With a friend?

-How can you better prepare for the "planned pitches" thrown at you? Examples: take an online course, get some coaching, ask a friend for advice. What else?

-How can you better prepare to face the "unplanned pitches" that come your way? How is your support system? How quick is your turn-to-God-for-help-response? Who do you know who seems to handle the unpredictable pitches particularly well and how can you learn from him or her?

"Silence" Questions

-What do you need to unplug in order to hear God in your days? In your nights?

-How have you perhaps been listening for "something" rather than someone" as you've been listening for God to speak?

-Have you ever tried practicing Lectio Divina or Christian meditation? If so, what was the result? If not, why not? Process your response.

-Respond to this quote, "There is always music amongst the trees in the garden but our hearts must be very quiet to hear it." How might this saying connect us to the spiritual discipline of silence?

"Think" Questions

-Carolyn Custis James writes, "The moment the word 'why' crossed my lips, I was doing theology." Do you agree with her premise? Why? Or why not?

-Can you think of an instance where, as Carolyn writes, "Trouble draws out the theologian in us all as we probe God's heart with questions..."? What beliefs about God did your questions lead you to discover?

-Why is it important that God's people think through their theology? Why is it important for women to specifically do so?

"Fear" Questions

-Read Luke 7:26-39. Notice how the people were afraid. Of what were they afraid? What was the result of their fear?

-Read I John 4:18. What is the impact of fear on love? Of love on fear?

-Of what are you afraid?

-What good is fear?
